Cut it or Keep it (my mum's knee length hair)?

my mum has very long hair that just down to her middle thighs. She started to grow her hair when she was in her late 30's.Now she is 45 years old.A lot of ladies around my mun's age has cut their hair to neck length.Short hair maybe is the fashion of women in middle age.She wears her black straight mane into a huge braid bun that fixed on her head with a big hairnet.More and more friends of hers have began to think my mum's hairstyle is a totle failure, out of fashion, making my mum being a freak. They haven't been successed on persuading her having a short haircut. But I think sooner or later,my mum would have to cut it short because so many friends don't like the hair of Rapunzel. And my mum has began to think about a short haircut.I like the hair very much.I don't want to cut it short and I think my mum likes the hair too.Should I give her some confidence on keeping hair that long or,I think ,tell her to cut it short for her own good? Man, Crystal Gayle a country singer has hers that long but, it's her trade mark.. She's Loretta Lynn's sister. Your mum sounds like her b/c her's is black and long like that as well.

Anywho, if she doesn't want to give into the norm. I'd say why not at least cut it to her shoulders that way she'll have some decent length as well as improve her health... Meaning that mane of her's has to be giving her some headaches/back aches. That's a lot of weight to be carrying around. LOL

I'm soon to be 41 yrs. old and I'm growing my mane out to donate it to an organization that makes wigs for terminally ill children. I believe the organization is called " Locks of Love" anywho, they the hair salon will do all the paperwork and all you have to do is pay for the cut/style they'll do the rest as they are a sponsor to the organization. So, maybe you can do some research in your area and see if there's anything like that. She might like the idea of getting a new style as well as help others out.

Just curious, how long does it take her to wash her hair? she'd save some $$ on shampoo.. LOL

Good luck to you and Merry Christmas/Happy New Year from

She can get a nice haircut that is to the middle of her back or her shoulders.

The lenght of the hair and the way she is wearing it make her look old and old fashioned.

Why not get a cut and wear it in a ponytail? or a clip?

She definately should cut it.

I see women her age and older with that long hair and they may used to have had long beautiful hair, but it is not beautiflu anymore on them.

For goodness sakes, it is only hair, cut some off, be adventuresome.

I used to have long hair like that , I could sit on it, now I keep it at shoulder length.http://www.fortunecity.com/bennyhills/pu...

You can tell her that she can donate her hair to children that have cancer and are going through chemotherapy. You can let her know that she would be helping children feel better about themselves.

Here is a link to an organization that accepts donated hair.

I would cut it to the shoulders or about 5 inches below your shoulder. Hair down to your knees is a little...LONG.

if she's going to cut it, make sure to donate it to http://locksoflove.org/

If you spend your life adapting yourself to the constantly changing whims of the people around you, your life will become a deluge of self doubts and insecurities. Changing shoe styles or sweater colours is one thing, changing our physical bodies is another whole issue.

Taking the opinions of her family and close friends and using them to help her arrive at a decision is perfectly normal, but in the end, the final decision should come from the lady looking back at her in the mirror.
